This afternoon/evening we are having a cookout with some of our friends partially for me to be able to do some of the photos I have in mind. I’m planning on doing 3-4 different ones, but we shall see how it goes and how well the dogs are going to want to cooperate with a bunch of people over.
I’m planning on re shooting the birthday environment that I talked about in my previous blog post, only making it a cook-out. I also want to do a picture of someone grilling at the grill and something going on inside the house since the window to the kitchen is by the grill, maybe having one of the dogs stealing something off the counter. I’m not sure how the lighting and shooting through the screen on the window will go so it will be an experiment. Another shot I’m going to try to do today would be one of people playing corn hole that is being interrupted by the dogs. We also have our pool somewhat open and I’d really like to get a shot of someone jumping into the pool and the dog at the edge watching them but shoot it to where you’re seeing all of the scene through the open pool gate with maybe a dog lounging on the stairs too. I’m going to play around with that if I can get someone who is willing to jump in the pool.
Another idea I have is a play on the Indy 500. Whenever we let the dogs out in the yard, the first thing they do is sprint around the pool. So if I can get a high enough vantage point I want to shoot from above and have all the dogs running around the pool sort of like it’s the track. Maybe a person or two will be in the pool. We shall see. I’d like to knock out several photos today since I have all of these ideas and will have people here to participate more in the shots than just Nate and I. Fingers crossed the dogs want to cooperate.
In the meantime and since our blog posts are due today, this is one shot that I did that pretty much sums up what the dogs do when they are let outside without us. The Siberian’s are horrible diggers. I was trying to play around with staging the dogs in different areas of the scene. I wanted to shoot this with the corner of the house so I could get two different “environments” in the image, the side of the house with the rosebush and the back deck area. I like how both of the Siberians are digging but I wish I could have had one of them back towards the fence more. I also think that a dog closer to the camera in the foreground would have helped utilize the space more…or maybe I just need more dogs to work with (don’t tell Nate I said that lol.)
